3. How to Read the Label (So You Don’t Buy Ssamjang by Mistake)
- Gochujang = red tub, says 고추장 + chili icon, 500g/1kg. Not ssamjang (쌈장, brown-green label).
- Gochugaru = flakes, says 고춧가루, “fine” or “coarse.” Fine for gochujang, coarse for kimchi.
- Doenjang = brown tub, 된장, thick like peanut butter. Avoid “miso” if you want Korean flavor.
